I understand the premise that increased competition for organic search ranking from real-time content will make SEO more challenging. However, I'm not convinced that an exodus to the pay side of search is the best solution.

The demographics of PPC tend to be negatively skewed, i.e., less educated and less affluent.

I propose instead that Internet marketers adapt to the new order and embrace social media. Why shouldn't it be their real-time content that's picked up by search engines?

Furthermore, social capital may eventually play the role that inbound links now play in establishing the authority and relevance of a site. Please read:
